2:14 AM
by David Paquet | German by Frank Weigand
A school shooting has left six people dead. As an echo of the tragic event, a voice haunts the play, the true threat of which is only revealed towards the end. Until then, four students and their teacher go about their mostly neurotic everyday activities. Berthier can only get close to people in the disguise of a blind man, François falls in love with an old woman who likes vodka, Jade eats worms to lose weight and develop something like self-esteem, Kathrina tries to deal with her aggression problem with a tattoo, and Denis actually faces his students with the same helplessness as he does his own life. The assassin's mother, meanwhile, cherishes the memory of all the victims - including her son - and finally gathers the dead together for a line dance.
2:14 am is a dance of death full of bizarre and astonishingly clear-sighted humor that, despite all the deep melancholy, celebrates the joy of life and the power of change.
